Prescription Refills

Important Information About Your Prescription Renewals

National Spine & Pain Centers provides a convenient Patient Portal to help make prescription refill requests fast and secure.

How can I get prescription refills?

  • Contact your pharmacy directly at least three (3) business days before your medication runs out.
  • Once your provider has authorized your prescription refill request it will be completed and you will be notified.
  • For mail-order prescriptions, be sure to request your prescription(s) fourteen (14) days before your medication(s) runs out.

Why do online requests require three (3) days advance notice?

Advance notice is required to allow ample time for your medical record to be accessed and your prescription refill request to be reviewed and approved by your physician.

What if it has been more than three months since my last visit?

In that case, you will need to schedule a visit with your doctor before more medication can be prescribed.

What if another doctor prescribed a medication and I need a refill?

You will have to contact that doctor to authorize any refills, or you can discuss directly at your next office visit.

Do you have an opioid prescribing policy that patients must sign?

Yes. This is required to be signed by all patients, and the contract is strictly enforced. To see our full policy, please click to download this document: Opioid Prescribing Policy

Why are there restrictions on refilling opioid/narcotic medications?

For your protection, strict federal laws control the distribution of all medications containing narcotics. For example:

  • You cannot get a refill until your current prescription is expired. If you call after your prescription has run out, it will take up to three days to process your request, so please plan ahead.
  • Some opioid/narcotic medications require an original written prescription. You can pick it up at our office. We cannot phone these prescriptions in to your pharmacy.
  • You will need to see your doctor every 30-60 days.
