About

About

Dr. Finkelstein strives for an honest and forthright relationship with all of his patients. First and foremost, his goal is to create the best possible plan of care maximizing all available therapies to ensure his patients’ pain relief.

A self-proclaimed computer geek since 4th grade, Dr. Finkelstein graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and spent many years working in several aspects of computers and technology management.

Eventually realizing his true path in life, Dr. Finkelstein followed in his mother’s footsteps and enrolled in medical school. He earned his MD with honors (magna cum laude) from St. George’s University School of Medicine. After internship at Staten Island University Hospital in New York, Dr. Finkelstein completed his residency in Anesthesiology at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in New Jersey.

It was during his first year of residency that Dr. Finkelstein developed an interest in pain management and a strong desire to help reduce his patients’ acute and chronic pain. In order to be able to help his patients in the best way possible, Dr. Finkelstein completed a Pain Medicine fellowship and was the Chief Fellow of Pain Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center’s Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care in New York, one of the most intensive interventional pain management fellowships in the country.

Dr. Finkelstein is currently serves at the Regional Medical Director for National Spine and Pain Centers.

On a personal note, Dr. Finkelstein is an avid do-it-yourselfer and makes every effort to maintain his “geekness.” He enjoys traveling with his family and friends and tries never to visit the same place twice. “There is too much beauty and culture in the world to see to keep returning to where you’ve already been,” he says. Dr. Finkelstein volunteers as a physician in the community and has served as a volunteer emergency medical technician.
