About

About

Dr. Drahmane Kaba is very passionate about seeing his patients improve in their function and quality of life. “It is a great feeling to have someone thank you for making a positive difference in treating their chronic pain,” he said. “It’s what drives me and brings me joy.”

He loves that the pain management field is constantly evolving the state of the art. The new interventional approaches are improving the physician’s ability to provide better treatment options to their patients with little to no down time.

Currently, Dr Kaba is excited about the new technologies being developed in the neuromodulation field especially those procedures that will alleviate pain from peripheral neuropathy. He is also intrigued by minimally invasive decompression procedures being developed to address chronic intractable low back pain.

Holding a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY - Binghamton University, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from SUNY - Upstate Medical University, both in New York. He completed his internship and physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville. Dr. Kaba completed a 1-year fellowship in interventional Pain management at the National Pain Institute. He has brought his expertise to Florida Pain and Rehabilitation Associates Inc. since 2013.

Dr. Kaba believes the crux of the medical field relies on the good interaction between medical provider and the patient. “That trust and confidence comes from good communication and interaction between the doctor and the patient,” he said. “I want every patient to feel comfortable expressing themselves to me whether it’s in French, Spanish, Portuguese or English.”

Employing a multifaceted approach to treating chronic pain, Dr. Kaba puts together treatment plans including medication management, physical and occupational therapy, psychology, injections and interventions. “The goal of our treatment plan is to improve function and quality of life and minimize the need for pain medications,” he said.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Kaba enjoys reading on a wide array of topics and watching sporting events like boxing, soccer, basketball and football. He may also be found doing outdoor activities such as biking, hiking and kitesurfing.
